Brief: Reach seasonal workers looking for winter work in a new and creative way
I've always loved the use of nostalgia in advertising which was the genesis for this campaign. The concept started with a passage from an essay by Carson McCullers: "We are torn between nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known." Nostalgia is a strange feeling, and can lead to notions of a betterness or simpler time, even when we didn't actually live in or know those times.
Below are two commercials. The first is the final produced spot, and the one below it the spec version used to show the idea to the client.
