oh, hello there!
I'm Erik. I live in Ohio so I tend to say "ope" a lot and "sorry" just as much. We're basically Canadian up here, eh.
It wasn’t long after I was born that I was creating PowerPoint slideshows for my Christmas wish list. I spent hours getting just the right images, using just the right fonts, and gave full-fledged presentations to my parents. I usually closed the parent account.
I soon graduated into the movie-making business. I wrote scripts and came up with storylines for an entire cast of characters before using some long forgotten software to animate and act out my stories. Again my audience was my parents and their friends, and they ate it up. Would have gotten an Oscar or at least a Teen Choice Award if parents could give such things. I guess their love was enough.
In college I studied English Literature and was convinced I would write the next great American novel. I’m still working on that one, but the creativity hasn't stopped.
When I landed my first real job in corporate America it was for a major media company, the kind that was around when there were only three channels on tv. I pitched clients and once again closed business (these clients were a tad tougher than mom and dad).
I moved on to another large media company, where I stressed the importance (and opportunity) of creative selling. I knew that we sold what everybody else sold; we weren’t special with our commercials or banner ads, but we could be. I knew that clients cared less about execution than about results, and I knew too that they could be sold with a big idea. A creative campaign that wowed and would then be supported with our offerings. We needed to be our own small agency within the larger confines of our company. Unfortunately as a media company we're never as creative as I'd like us to be.
All of which led here, to my portfolio, where problem solving and ideas abound. Take a look around, and do get in touch.
